Capital City Arts Initiative

NON-PROFIT VISUAL ARTS ORGANIZATION

The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) presents art exhibitions in three Carson City Galleries, hosts a speaker series, and brings artists to high school and college classrooms to work with students. They believe the arts build community.

  • CCAI presents three major exhibitions annually by local, regional, or national artists in its CCAI Courthouse Gallery located in the Carson City Courthouse, 885 E Musser St. Commissioned essays accompany these shows.

  • Additional exhibitions, primarily by Nevada artists, take place in the Community Center’s Sierra Room, where all City boards and commissions hold their public meetings at 851 E William St, Carson City.

  • The Initiative presents its high school and college student shows in the Community Development Building [the Brick], 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.

  • Previously, CCAI has produced an annual residency/exhibition at St. Mary’s Art Center, Virginia City [2008 – 2015] and monthly exhibitions at Comma Coffee [2004 – 2006].

  • Other projects have taken place at the Carson City Library, Classy Seconds thrift store, a garden shop, a Harley-Davidson showroom, and a series of pop-up shows in a store front.
